Responsibilities

You will provide customer service in person, by telephone, and email and complete correspondence (answer written inquiries, prepare letters to obtain missing information, etc.)
You will evaluate and authenticate documents for record support
You will interpret policies and procedures regarding eligibility requirements, benefits for personnel actions
You will identify, correct and verify inaccurate information in personnel systems

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Examining, evaluating and extracting information needed to process a variety of personnel actions for all categories of personnel; 2) Maintaining, formatting, verifying content and use of personnel records; 3) Utilizing personnel databases to research, update, and process personnel actions; and 4) Collaborating with individuals, departments and other organizations to obtain information required
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of generalized experience demonstrating progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-05: Successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school OR A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
GS-04: Successful completion of at least two full academic years of education above high school OR A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
