Intern, Vehicle Integration Engineer

Slate Auto is building safe and reliable vehicles while promoting personalization and affordability. They are seeking an Intern, Vehicle Integration Engineer to contribute to the performance and refinement of their vehicles through hands-on engineering work, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Install and configure vehicle controller area network (CAN) instrumentation systems on prototype vehicles
Work with data collected and transmitted to cloud servers to identify specific issues and the conditions under which those issues arise
Develop analytics dashboards for management review of data like fleet performance / efficiency data, usage metrics, open issues, and requirements validation status
Work with cross-functional engineers to identify signals and triggers beneficial to vehicle data analysis and implement those into the data collection systems
Assist engineers and managers in using the data reporting tools and dashboards created to capture key performance indicators
Support vehicle level testing and validation of functional objectives through our requirement management system

Required

Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Must be graduating between August 2026 and May 2029
Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week)
Interest in vehicle communication networks, telematics, and data analysis tools
Highly adaptable and proactive
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in both laboratory and vehicle / plant environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must have the ability to travel (up to 10%)
Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds
Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods

Preferred

Experience with or eagerness to learn tools such as Python and Grafana is a plus
