Aegis Terra is a high-growth startup solving complex problems in challenging environments. The Lead Embedded Systems Engineer & Site Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of tactical networking modules and manage the Atlanta headquarters, ensuring operational excellence and technical innovation.

Responsibilities
Architect next-generation embedded modules that integrate 5G/LTE, 4x4 MIMO Wi-Fi, and MANET capabilities into the world's smallest form factors
Lead the development and optimization of OpenWRT-based firmware and Linux kernels for the Flex Bridge RoIP (FBR) and Field Broadband Transport (FBT)
Manage the integration of the TAK (Android Team Awareness Kit) suite, ensuring seamless data flow between wearable end-user devices (EUDs) and the tactical cloud
Develop low-level drivers and middleware to interface with MIL-SPEC radio systems (PRC 148, 152, 163) and Nett Warrior power standards
Lead bench testing and field validation to ensure Radical Reliability (IP-65/67 standards) and a 100% 'Green-Light' rating from our end-user vetting process
Adhere to our 30-day rapid innovation cycle, translating field-identified gaps into production-ready modules
Act as the 'Responsible Party' for our Atlanta facility (949 West Marietta Street NW), overseeing daily operations, engineering labs, and local personnel
Align local engineering milestones with our 'North Star': becoming the gold standard for edge data compute by the end of 2026
Mentor and onboard new technical hires, instilling the 'Aegis Terra Method' of engineering for extremes
Qualification
Required
You thrive in high-stakes environments and are comfortable being a 'Founding Engineer' who builds the manual while flying the plane
Expertise in C/C++ and Python for embedded systems
Deep experience with OpenWRT, embedded Linux, and shell scripting
Strong understanding of networking protocols, VPN tunneling, and AES-256/IPsec security
Familiarity with PCB design and hardware prototyping
A deep understanding of SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) optimization for the tactical edge
Preferred
Previous experience with TAK/ATAK
