Responsibilities
Work under the direction and guidance of the Roadway Department and Project Managers
Collaborate with other KCA associates on a variety of transportation engineering tasks
Provide technical support for roadway design projects, including geometric design, roadway widening, intersection layout, and safety improvements
Assist with projects such as new roadway alignments, widening, milling and resurfacing, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, highway safety studies, and intersection/interchange design
Contribute to the preparation of construction documents, engineering reports, and plan production
Assist with the development and production of project deliverables, including written documentation, graphics, and design exhibits
Gain exposure to DOT standards and roadway design practices to build a strong technical foundation
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
Able to analyze and interpret data
Able to meet time sensitive deadlines
Able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficient with Microsoft Office software
Effective verbal communication skills
Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files
Effective writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates
Able to work effectively in group settings or as an individual
Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion
