The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, engaging in preconstruction efforts, and collaborating with the Operations Team to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities
Review, analyze, and interpret contract documents for a complete understanding of the work and owner deliverables to provide accurate, detailed cost estimates
Review opportunity pursuits and develop a preliminary budget estimate and itemized summary for go/no-go evaluation
Participate in preconstruction efforts for design-build or other alternative delivery projects
Provide creative and innovative thinking to analyze and develop strategy and value engineering solutions
Review quantity takeoff comparisons to provide an evaluation for accuracy and acceptance
Work with scheduling staff and Operations to develop accurate and precise bid schedules
Present complete and accurate estimates to Executive Management for review and to ensure confidence in decision-making
Perform all final bid close functions as required
Working in a team-oriented environment and training/mentoring others
Company representation at pre-bids and site visits
For awarded projects, communicate all estimate information to the Operations Team to ensure a thorough understanding of all assumptions, scope, risk, and strategies
Remain engaged with the project and Operations Team throughout the life of awarded projects
Develop business relationships within the regional marketplace
Qualification
Required
Experience with estimating Heavy Civil Construction projects that involve Earthwork, Underground Utilities, Paving & Grading, and/or Concrete/Structures
Estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience
Familiarity with estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and cost control systems
Ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision
Experience in Heavy Highway & Heavy Civil construction
BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
Proven experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering
Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts (e.g., Design Build, CMAR, Design-Bid-Build, etc.)
Broad knowledge and understanding of civil construction and methods, including grading and earthwork, drainage, paving, etc
Advanced understanding of the project life cycle, including bid, proposal, and estimation processes, and project management
Project Engineers with 3+ years of experience are welcome to apply
