Administrative Specialist I

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest agencies in the state, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of all North Carolinians. They are seeking an Administrative Specialist I to serve as a primary contact for clients, collecting demographic and financial information, and managing patient funds while coordinating with the Central Billing Office.

Health Care

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary contact person for all the clients assigned to them
Interview patient/guardians to accurately collect demographic, financial, and insurance information for the Epic system
Use Epic's Real Time Eligibility (RTE) and external portals to confirm health plan coverage and obtain information for authorizations
Monitor and resolve assigned work queues in Epic and work closely with Central Billing Office to prevent billing delays
Manage a patient's personal funds to ensure compliance with policies

Required

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to interpret and implement accounting and bookkeeping principles and ability to organize and retrieve financial data records

Preferred

Must be skilled in collecting, analyzing and completing financial data to determine appropriate billing decision
Basic knowledge of governmental programs, i.e., Medicare, Medicaid, NC Tracks, Supplemental Security Income, WIRM, Palmetto, Veterans Administration, etc
Must demonstrate proficiency in entering correct data into Hearts billing system timely
Ability to interact and communicate with co-workers and the general public effectively in both verbal and written form
