Associate - Member Service

South Shore YMCA is seeking an Associate Member Services to provide a safe, engaging, and positive experience for all members and visitors. This role involves greeting members, processing memberships, and maintaining a clean front desk area, while also engaging with the community and supporting YMCA initiatives.

Responsibilities

Be part of a collaborative, people-focused environment where building strong, positive relationships with staff, supervisors, members, and program participants is key to success. Take initiative on tasks assigned by leadership, actively contribute in team meetings, and complete all required trainings to stay sharp and effective in your role
As the first point of contact for members and visitors, this position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and enriching environment. This position is all about connection, greeting and engaging with members, answering questions, giving tours, and promoting the YMCA's programs and mission
Process memberships, registrations, and transactions with accuracy and efficiency, while also maintaining professional appearance and reliable attendance. Handle cash procedures responsibly, follow YMCA policies (including child protection), and contribute to a positive, community-driven atmosphere
Proficiency with front desk software and a passion for helping others are essential as you help build lasting relationships and support the YMCA’s cause
Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities are key, as this position helps resolve member concerns and ensure they feel supported and informed
Maintain a clean and organized front desk and lobby
Record and report any faulty equipment and /or lapse of maintenance to the proper people
Follow up on any issues brought to desk regarding facility or locker rooms
Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility
Assist in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engage in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community
