Structural Engineering Intern
City of Seattle is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities, focused on energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The structural engineering intern will assist in seismic evaluations and smaller engineering projects to improve the resiliency of critical facilities.

Responsibilities
Creating and refining a seismic structural model of one of SCL’s critical facilities under the supervision of a senior structural engineer
Daily interaction with engineering staff, gaining understanding of professional engineering tasks and processes
Gain familiarity with seismic codes and practices for structures and electrical equipment
Develop skills using engineering analysis software tools
Communicate observations and design concepts in reports and discussion
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year undergraduate engineering program during their internship
Undergraduate Engineering students will need to maintain a 2.5 GPA or above throughout the internship
Preferred
Enrolled in an accredited Engineering school with a focus on Structural Engineering or related field
Coursework in one or more of the following structural topics: Steel, Reinforced Concrete, Concrete Masonry, Structural Analysis, Seismic Design
Familiarity with drafting software such as AutoCAD or Bluebeam
Familiarity with modeling analysis software such as RISA-3D, ETABS, or SAP
Ability to communicate professionally through email, Teams, and in-person
