DWM Network Engineer (SCADA)

City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is responsible for managing the water and wastewater systems. They are seeking a DWM Network Engineer to perform technical work related to the SCADA system, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network communication and automation control systems.

Responsibilities

Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs and programs data acquisition, telemetry, automation, computer, and programmable logic-process control equipment
Provides technical and networking support for all water and wastewater automation control system implementations, which operate or interface with a DCS or PLC/HMI computer controlled networked environment
Identifies for management equipment required for the proper functioning of the SCADA network at the facility level
Performs telemetry programming and modifications as required for the proper functioning of SCADA equipment and networks
Responds to systems emergencies
Troubleshoots network communication faults
In conjunction with the SCADA Systems Analyst\Engineer, sets up switches, routers and modems and ensures the security of the SCADA systems and components
Responds to after-hours emergency calls and emergency conditions
Operates and maintains a variety of equipment such as telemetry equipment, computers, diagnostic equipment, meters, UPS, calibration equipment, hand tools, telephone, etc
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as other City employees, sales representatives, engineers, contractors, and other utility companies
Provide full-time onsite technical support for DCS and SCADA, instrumentation, networking, and security devices within City facilities as defined by the Automation Team. These tasks shall be, but not limited to: Installation, decommissioning, repair, replacement and maintenance of various devices, instruments, and equipment. Climbing ladders, utilizing lift apparatus, working in confined spaces Uploading and downloading of Networking configuration files Track and document the progression of the work Perform Troubleshooting Identify all issues Suggest and implement solutions Operate vehicle in a safe manner Check and update field automation systems and databases Adhere to City’s rules and regulations Team up with colleagues and other team members, City staff and vendors Build relationships and trust with City staff and vendors

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis)
Two (2) years of specific professional work experience

Network Training
ECSE (Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer)
CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator)
ITIL certification

FCC Licensing
Ability to read, markup, modify drawings electronic and/or written
Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
General understanding of industrial maintenance, electronics, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics
Understanding of industrial networking, PLCs, and/or DCS systems
Team player
Displays good time-management skills
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Displays the ability to articulate problems in solutions in verbal and written formats
Ability to work in adverse weather and occasional overtime and weekends

Preferred

Master's degree in information systems or network security (optional but advantageous)
