Service Retirement Benefit Processing Analyst

CalPERS is the nation’s largest public pension fund, providing retirement and health benefits to public employees, retirees, and their families. They are seeking an Analyst II to join their Retirement Benefit Services Division, responsible for addressing service retirement inquiries and ensuring accurate benefit payments to California’s public employees and their families.

Responsibilities

Addressing service retirement inquiries
Completing service retirement estimate requests
Calculating retirement benefits to ensure CalPERS retirees receive a timely and accurate benefit payment
Independently researching, analyzing, and completing a full range of benefit related assignments
Resolving outstanding eligibility requirements
Working with stakeholders to obtain required information needed to process service retirement calculations
Partnering with other California pensions systems to exchange reciprocal salary information

Required

Detail-oriented analyst motivated by meaningful public service
Experience managing a complex workload with competing deadlines
Experience coordinating communication and information exchange among multiple internal and external stakeholders
Experience identifying areas for improvement within a job process or system
Ability to provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager's review
All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification
If using education to meet MQs, transcripts must be included with the application package
If degree is from outside of the United States, an evaluation of the degree to determine US equivalency must be submitted
Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship
Must pass an examination to establish list eligibility prior to a final offer of employment

Preferred

Subject matter expertise in payroll/benefit administration
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
