Program Coordinator, Drug User Health Program

Fenway Health is a healthcare organization focused on providing services to the community, and they are seeking a Program Coordinator for their Drug User Health Program. The Program Coordinator will facilitate daily operations of harm reduction services, support clients, and assist in program development and data management.

Responsibilities

Facilitate daily operations of program services (20%)
Assist in coordinating the daily operations of the Access exchange site at Green Street including: syringe exchange services, materials data and demographic collection, maintaining the drop-in, and health navigation to other support services
Alongside Program Manager, facilitate planning for staffing coverage, outreach planning, opening/closing duties, availability of risk reduction supplies & information, client service coordination, and general cleanliness of the space
Lead on updating hard copy and electronic client education and service marketing materials as needed
Monitor exchange space, supply rooms, and client bathroom for safety. Assist in developing protocols for these spaces
Work with the Program Manager to assist with inventory management including conducting weekly supply inventory, supply rotation and organization, and proper supply storage in accordance with Joint Commission standards
Assist Program Manager with onboarding activities for new staff and coordinate and communicate with volunteers
Provide oversight for data entry procedures to help ensure data is entered in an accurate, complete, and timely manner
Assist Program Manager with data collection, reporting, analysis, and data driven program development/improvement
Facilitate program development activities (20%)
In partnership with Program Manager, implement activities to improve community engagement via community advisory boards, client feedback systems, etc
Become a subject matter expert in program KPIs and, in partnership with program leaders, develop programmatic priorities based on internal and external public health data
Maintain and develop resources and materials for people who inject drugs (PWID) living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C, with a concentration on active substance users, homeless individuals, sex workers, transgender women, and re-entry populations
Provide direct services and care to clients (60%)
Support the syringe exchange/drop in space by working with clients to provide safe use supplies, risk reduction counseling, naloxone distribution and education, and infectious disease testing/linkage to treatment
Participate in client outreach activities as needed
Provide training to clients on overdose prevention and how to use Naloxone to reverse an overdose
Directly respond and support other ACCESS staff with client interactions, including overdose response, crisis and de-escalation interventions, and complex health navigation activities
Work alongside Program Manager in maintaining a safe environment for clients and staff, maintaining a record of disciplinary actions as needed, including providing warnings to clients who act outside of our stated community guidelines, as well as post-suspension re-entry conversations
Meet agency participatory expectations
Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
Attend program, department and agency meetings and trainings
Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested, including Joint Commission accreditation and workflow planning
Adhere to the highest principles of client confidentiality
Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and precautions
Enforce agency’s policies and clinical procedures, including safety and crisis procedures
Attend all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
Perform related duties and projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in related field with 2 years of related work experience
Experience developing and disseminating health information and materials
Ability to provide non-judgmental, person-centered, and trauma-informed counseling
Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft office and experience with electronic data collection
Self-directed, motivated and flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability and willingness to respond to medical and behavioral health crises within program purview
Proven problem solver with ability to manage multiple priorities required

Preferred

Masters degree in related field including public health, epidemiology, health sciences, or social work preferred
Previous experience coordinating the work of volunteers and/or interns strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience using data to drive programmatic trajectories
Strong knowledge of harm reduction and opioid overdose prevention strategies
Significant knowledge of health-related social issues faced by people who use drugs
Experience with EPIC or RedCAP
Experience as a team-leader a plus
Experience conducting trainings and facilitating support and educational groups
