Responsibilities

Own the overall application architecture built on Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and Heroku
Evaluate, refactor, and improve existing codebase for scalability, performance, and maintainability
Make architectural decisions independently and communicate tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders
Define technical standards, best practices, and documentation
Develop and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails
Build and maintain frontend and mobile-friendly experiences using Ionic and JavaScript
Manage Heroku environments, deployments, add-ons, and performance tuning
Act as the primary technical point of contact for the application
Translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans
Manage priorities, timelines, and scope without the support of a dedicated project manager
Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and leadership as needed
Own or guide UX decisions in the absence of a dedicated designer
Improve reliability, security, and observability
Reduce reliance on external vendors through internal knowledge transfer

Required

7+ years of professional software development experience
5+ years of Ruby on Rails experience in production environments
Strong experience with JavaScript and modern frontend practices
Hands-on experience with Ionic (or similar hybrid mobile frameworks)
Proven experience deploying and operating applications on Heroku
Extensive experience integrating with Salesforce APIs and data models
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and lead technical decisions
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
