Policy Analyst

Responsibilities

Monitor, track and report to senior team members and clients on legislative, regulatory and other policy and political developments
Prepare a range of written communications for internal and external audiences; including writing weekly summaries of relevant policy developments for clients in various forms
Collaborate with business development team to support any materials for clients (including but not limited to one-pagers)
Provide coverage of congressional hearings for clients
Participate in regular calls with clients. This may include giving the client real-time updates and/or preparing background materials for the team members who represent the client
Responsible for meeting notes
Help coordinate meetings for clients on Capitol Hill, government agencies, or with third party groups
Candidate will eventually be asked to take greater responsibility for coordinating and leading Brownstein policy team meetings and organizing the team’s engagement efforts on behalf of clients
Perform other research and duties as required

Required

Bachelor's Degree in political science, public policy, international relations, economics or related field
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong computer and research skills
Ability to work well under pressure and balance competing priorities
Ability to engage clients and government officials in a mature, professional manner
This position will require registration under the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). Candidates must be eligible and willing to comply with all applicable FARA registration and reporting requirements

Preferred

Previous experience supporting clients in the Middle East region preferred
Experience working in Congress, the Executive Branch, political campaigns, advocacy and lobbying, and/or policy research and analysis
Department of Commerce, Department of State, or corresponding congressional committees is preferred
