Program Manager, Energy Advisory Studies
The National Petroleum Council is dedicated to advising and making recommendations to the Secretary of Energy regarding the oil and gas industries. The Program Manager will play a key role in ensuring the success of studies by providing management and organizational support to executives from member companies, ensuring studies stay on schedule and meet the Secretary's requests.
Responsibilities
Serves as a core member of the study leadership team, advising the Coordinating Subcommittee and Task Groups leadership on study process, scope, and execution
Guides study process to ensure that all study members participate, and all input is considered
Provides and implements meeting facilitation and conflict resolution processes
Assist with development of study schedules and milestones
Identify important process checkpoints and deliverables
Track and report deliverable deadlines to leadership
Plans agendas and provides strategic advice and support to subcommittees and task groups
Works closely with committee chairs and government representatives to plan and execute meetings
Provides study project management, identifying resources and solving challenges which enable study completion on time and within budget, including identifying analytic or other support for studies
Acts as the lead NPC staff for off-site meetings and assists with logistics management when necessary
Prepares reports by completing and/or overseeing editing, fact-checking, figure design, copyright permissions, and report layout
Ensures reports meet NPC standards for rigor, clarity, and credibility
Conducts background research and prepares background papers and technical summaries
Provides supervision, training, and mentoring to NPC support staff
Represents NPC publicly by presenting study reports, reviewing and producing communication material, and participating in report outreach events
Become involved in energy, environmental, economic and related events within and outside of Washington DC to stay informed on energy and related matters
Participation in professional societies highly recommended
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Minimum five years of relevant experience in a technical or policy role
Preferred
post graduate degree
Writing and report editing skills
Working with volunteers representing a diversity of views
Experience working with and interfacing with senior corporate and government officials
Meeting management and group facilitation skills
Excellent written communication skills
Experience presenting in public forums for small and large audiences
