Hydraulic Engineer

Robert Peccia & Associates (RPA) is seeking a motivated Hydraulics / Senior Hydraulics Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects by leading and executing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and drainage design. This role contributes to practical, resilient, and permit-ready solutions for roadway drainage systems.

Civil EngineeringGraphic Design

Responsibilities

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design for storm sewer systems, culverts, channels, ditches, bridge hydraulics, scour support, and floodplain evaluations
Prepare drainage exhibits, design details, calculations, reports, and technical documentation that meet federal, state, and local criteria
Conduct field investigations/site reviews to validate design assumptions and conditions
Collaborate with project managers, roadway designers, multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
For senior candidates: Provide technical leadership , mentor junior staff, serve as the primary hydrology/hydraulics contact on select projects, and lead complex drainage deliverables

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
4+ years of relevant hydrology/hydraulics experience (transportation drainage preferred)
Technical proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, SSA, and familiarity with Civil 3D/OpenRoads/ArcGIS
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with PE licensure (or ability to obtain)
8+ years of progressive hydrology/hydraulics experience
Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex drainage design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary deliverables
Strong written and verbal communication skills; mentorship capability
