Senior Healthcare Architect
AIA Colorado is a leading design-build firm specializing in innovative healthcare facility design. They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Healthcare Architect to lead healthcare planning and design projects, ensuring compliance and functionality while mentoring junior staff.
Architecture & Planning
Responsibilities
Lead and collaborate in the medical planning and programming phases, working closely with healthcare providers and stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into functional, efficient, and compliant design solutions for healthcare facilities
Work collaboratively with the project team to guide healthcare projects from Conceptual Design to Record Drawings, ensuring that each phase meets the client's objectives and design standards
Prepare renderings, presentations, and design documents for client and office meetings, effectively communicating design intent and project progress
Coordinate comprehensive project documents for all phases, including design sketches, renderings, models, graphics, sections, details, elevations, schedules, and specifications
Support design staff with submittal reviews and collaborate with construction project managers and field staff on constructability issues during the Construction Administration phase, ensuring the design is executed accurately
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced design staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Help cultivate their skills through feedback, training, and hands-on involvement in various phases of the design and construction process
Qualification
Required
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited school
Experience: A minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, specifically in healthcare architecture
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency and understanding of regulations governing healthcare projects including but not limited to FGI, state health reviews, NFPA 101, and OSHPD
Travel: Ability and willingness to travel out of state for site visits, client meetings, and other project-related activities as required
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal, written, and graphical communication skills for interacting with clients, consultants, contractors, and team members
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Learning Mindset: A passion for continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends in healthcare design and architecture
Preferred
Experience working on small and large-scale healthcare projects, including clinics, surgery centers, hospitals, and specialized medical facilities
Familiarity with healthcare codes, standards, and regulations
Strong understanding of sustainable design practices and healthcare-focused environmental solutions
