Responsibilities

P5 - At this grade level, you will be expected to work autonomously, have expert or mastery level knowledge within the Harness and Interconnect domain, and exercise strategic vision to influence the functional and organizational strategies of the PCAS organization beyond assigned program work
The PCAS organization provides ample opportunities for mentoring. P5 (SME) PCAS mechanical engineers are exposed to a variety of design activities including engineering builds, hardware integration, hardware tuning, and hardware verification
The PCAS organization provides a strong technical learning environment with a dedicated Harness and Interconnect technology pyramid comprised of engineering technologists. PCAS mechanical engineers are provided the opportunity for direct access to these subject matter experts, fostering accelerated technical growth

Required

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
Minimum 10 years experience in Harness and Interconnect design and/or development
Experience with any of the following electrical wiring schematics, interconnect diagrams, and/or harness manufacturing processes

Preferred

20 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. A minimum of 15 years of experience in Harness and Interconnect
Experience with Aerospace Systems
Experience with development of H&I requirements, H&I architecture, requirements risk, requirements verification and validation, system performance & function, safety and environmental compliance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing complex design challenges
Ability to innovate and optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost
Familiarity with military and aerospace standards (e.g., AS50881, MIL-STD-810, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
Proven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower-level work packages and tasks
Experience working in engineering teams, including electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers
Proficient in Engineering processes and procedures
Leadership skills to mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and drive team success
Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting designs, leading technical discussions, and documenting design processes
Expertise in selecting MIL-SPEC connectors (e.g., MIL-DTL-38999) for aerospace and defense applications, ensuring environmental and mechanical durability
Strong understanding of current, voltage, and signal integrity requirements for connector selection
Advanced capability in selecting wire gauges (AWG) based on current, voltage, and thermal considerations
Expertise in specifying insulation (e.g., PTFE, FEP) and shielding for high-temperature and EMI-sensitive environments
Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g., AS22759) and compliance in wire selection
