The intern will contribute to written articles, create and curate content for City publications, and help coordinate marketing efforts for City events.

Responsibilities
Works with the City Communications and Marketing Director to proactively contribute written articles on print and electronic platforms, as needed. Special attention to recreation programs, community arts and St. George Races
Works with the Communications and Marketing Director to create and curate content for City publications
Effectively uses communication mediums available to the city, such as website, newsletter, social media platforms, press releases and the digital marquee
Helps coordinate marketing efforts of City events in cooperation with designated staff
Works with the Communications and Marketing Director to help ensure that all published department materials comply with City policy as outlined in the Style Guide
Shadows the Communications and Marketing Director and other employees in the department at various times
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Current enrollment in an accredited college or university and have completed at a minimum the freshman year
Must be in good standing and not on academic or other probation
Must possess a valid driver license and it must be maintained throughout employment
Demonstrated positive work experience with no terminations for cause
Writing, basic photography, social media platforms and mobile applications knowledge
Computer software knowledge is highly desirable
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with the public, and other employees
Ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work well under pressure and impending deadlines
Ability to relate well with a variety of persons under varying circumstances
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
Ability to use a computer, printer, camera, copier and cell / telephone system regularly
Preferred
English, Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations majors preferred
Volunteer service and community involvement a plus
