UTILITY SYSTEMS REPAIRER-OPERATOR
The Department of the Air Force is seeking a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator at Lackland AFB, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to operate, maintain, monitor, install, overhaul, and repair water wells, wastewater, and swimming pool equipment, as well as perform preventive maintenance and chemical analysis on the system.

Responsibilities
Performs all tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, replacement and overhaul of various types of equipment in the wastewater collection, water distribution systems, and swimming pools
Operates water wells and swimming pools and calculates chemical and production and tank capacities. Interprets gauges, recorders, and / or meters to control pumping, and water levels in storage tanks and pools
Utilizes safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing

Valid vehicle operators license required
Incumbent is required to obtain a State Certification of Competency at the grade 'C' level in ground water production
State of Texas requirements are outlined in Title 25, Chapter 327 Certification of Water Utilities Personnel, Texas Regulation 3394 Dated 21 Sept 1982
Will be required to train/guide lower grade military/civilian employees
Employee will be required to work other than normal duty hours, which includes evenings, and/or weekends
This is a drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
This position has a limited area of consideration to the 502d Air Base Wing
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700-General Maintenance & Operations Work Group; Maintenance Mechanic
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a UTILITY SYSTEMS REPAIRER-OPERATOR without more than normal supervision
Knowledge of technical practices in order to perform various operational repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, water wells, wastewater lift stations, swimming pools, and associated equipment
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems
Skills in the use of measuring instruments such as gauges, meters, recorders, and computer generated data to determine operational status and make necessary adjustments
Ability to interpret diagrams, drawings, or operating manuals to be followed during emergencies, equipment failures, or system malfunction
Frequently works in confined areas in and around water and wastewater pumps and equipment
Work requires moderate to strenuous physical effort and long periods of walking, standing, climbing, bending, and crouching
Frequently lifts and carries parts, equipment, and chemical supplies weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally items weighing over 40 pounds with assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment
Employee works indoors/outside. Work is subject to prevailing weather conditions and works on catwalks and ladders
Employee is subject to high temperatures, constant noise, rotating machinery, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil, and fumes in the work area
Subject to cuts and abrasions from use of tools and equipment and burns from acids, caustics, hot water, and contact with pipes
