Project Executive
Paulson-Cheek Mechanical, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Project Executive to provide executive-level leadership across large, complex mechanical construction projects. This role is responsible for overall project performance including financial outcomes, client relationships, team leadership, and operational execution across various scopes.
Responsibilities
Provide executive oversight for multiple large-scale mechanical construction projects
Ensure consistent execution of company standards related to safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance
Maintain accountability for project profitability, cash flow, forecasting, and risk management
Oversee project budgets, cost controls, change management, and margin performance
Partner with project managers and superintendents to proactively identify risks and implement corrective strategies
Review and approve major project decisions, including staffing plans, procurement strategies, and subcontractor selection
Serve as a senior point of contact for owners, developers, general contractors, and key stakeholders
Build and maintain long-term client relationships that drive repeat business and strategic partnerships
Participate in executive-level meetings, negotiations, and project reviews
Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, senior project managers, and field leadership
Support talent development, succession planning, and leadership accountability across project teams
Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and high performance
Partner with preconstruction teams on pursuit strategies, budgeting, constructability reviews, and risk assessments
Support transition from preconstruction to operations to ensure alignment and execution clarity
Provide input on market strategy, staffing needs, and operational scalability
Qualification
Required
12+ years of progressive experience in mechanical construction (HVAC, plumbing, piping, or MEP)
Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, ground-up and/or fast-track projects
Strong financial acumen with a proven track record of managing budgets, margins, and project risk
Experience operating at a senior leadership or executive level within a construction organization
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence owners, executives, and project teams
Ability to travel or support multiple regions as business needs require
Preferred
Background with a design-build mechanical contractor
Experience supporting multiple project teams simultaneously
Exposure to industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, manufacturing, or large commercial projects
History of working in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
