TAX TECHNICIAN III, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking ambitious and driven individuals to join their team. The Tax Technician III will be responsible for processing returns and payments related to private party purchases of vehicles, vessels, and other assets, while also providing training to team members and ensuring accuracy in tax-related information.

Responsibilities

Reviewing revenue, payments, and differences
Processing refunds, adjustments, and cancellations
Sending notices of determination, statements, and demands
Verifying location addresses, property locations, and tax area codes for accuracy
Creating estimated returns using appropriate property valuation
Locating and applying payments to the appropriate account
Working with other units to move payments and returns as necessary
Contacting taxpayers and third parties to verify purchase information
Training other team members as necessary

Required

All applicants will be considered, however SROA/Surplus candidates will be given priority
Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California

Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
Travel may be required up to five percent (5%) of the time
