Responsibilities
Strong in modeling, drawing, drawing standards (drafting), and BOM structure
Experience with adding features and modifications to existing product platforms
Ability to solve design issues
Experience with releasing drawings and BOMs to operations
Candidates should ideally be able to manage regulatory and quality processes to some degree, but it's not a must
Pulling components, creating sheet metal, structural adjustments (e.g., one shelf, two shelves, drawers, baskets), customization
Top-level drawings, packaging labeling, BOM structure, release to operations
Qualification
Required
SolidWorks: Strong in modeling, drawing, drawing standards (drafting), and BOM structure
Design Customization: Experience with adding features and modifications to existing product platforms
Problem Solving: Ability to solve design issues
Drawing Release: Experience with releasing drawings and BOMs to operations
CAD Software: SolidWorks is a MUST due to the need for quick onboarding and results
Project Experience: Track record of successful project completion
Materials/Components Experience: Candidates should have experience with a mix of sheet metal design, fabrication (welds), carts (medical mobile carts), shelving, extrusions, castings, some injection molding, and light electrical and cabling
Preferred
Medical Device Experience: A plus, but design and SolidWorks skills outweigh this if comparing candidates
Sheet Metal Experience: A strong preference, as it's different from mechanical machining and constitutes ~75% of design work
Regulatory/Quality: Candidates should ideally be able to manage regulatory and quality processes to some degree, but it's not a must
