Mechanical Design Engineer - Coat Fixture Tooling Design
II-VI Aerospace & Defense is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of coating fixtures used in manufacturing processes. This position is ideal for a recent graduate eager to learn hands-on fixture design, manufacturing methods, and coating process requirements.

Responsibilities
Design and detailing of coating fixtures, racks, and tooling used in production
Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
Collaborate with manufacturing, coating, and quality teams to ensure fixture designs meet process and performance requirements
Support prototype builds, testing, and design improvements
Review designs for manufacturability, durability, and ease of use
Help document designs, specifications, and standard work procedures
Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Strong understanding of mechanical fundamentals (materials, mechanics, manufacturing processes)
Basic proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn and work in a manufacturing environment
Preferred
SolidWorks 3D modelling & design
Experience with coat fixture tooling design for precision optics
Vacuum coating equipment experience preferred
