Responsibilities

Write, rewrite, and edit technical documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and accessibility for a wide range of audiences
Acquire and maintain subject-matter expertise by interviewing product developers, observing production methods, and researching technical resources such as specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
Oversee the preparation and selection of illustrative materials, including drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts, to enhance technical documentation
Conduct quality reviews of technical materials to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with standards
Distribute technical documents and materials through appropriate channels to ensure timely, effective communication
Assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of technical/business support employees
Ability to assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of technical/business support employees

Required

Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access
Experience as a technical writer or in a related role
Experience using authoring tools and document management systems

Preferred

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and cross-functional teams
Experience preparing or overseeing technical illustrations and visuals is preferred
Familiarity with industry standards for technical documentation
Experience in business process improvement, operational excellence, or a related role
Demonstrated expertise in technical writing and documentation standards
Experience in training and developing leaders and teams in process improvement
Excellent communication, facilitation, and change management skills
