Start in 2026 SummerASML is a leading company in the development of lithography machines for microchip production. They are seeking a motivated Materials engineering research intern to contribute to solving materials and tribological challenges for next generation modules.

Responsibilities
Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
May require travel dependent on business needs
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
There is potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a University Master or PhD. in Materials Science, chemistry or similar engineering field
Broad knowledge of materials science and tribology
Designing and performing verification experiments and qualifications
Translating multidisciplinary insights in proposals for prototype designs
Experience with Matlab, Ansys, COMSOL a plus
Experience with machine learning a plus
Open to learning techniques outside of the above mentioned fields
Hands on and pragmatic
Good team player
Autonomous while driving to success in a highly skilled team of experts towards a common goal
Drive to understand design challenges in depth and ability to tackle them with a critical independent mindset
Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work
Can learn and apply new information or skills
Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents
Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism
