Contract Negotiator

The Contract Negotiator will support the business by negotiating and drafting a wide range of trading and commercial agreements, working closely with various internal teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities
Negotiate, draft, and review commercial agreements supporting energy and commodities trading activities, including industry-standard agreements such as ISDA (including Credit Support Annexes), EEI, NAESB Base Contracts, WSPP, LEAP agreements, and related trading documentation
Prepare and review confirmations, confidentiality agreements, and ancillary commercial agreements, including natural gas storage and transportation agreements, as needed
Partner closely with internal teams including legal, commercial, compliance, credit, tax, accounting, and operations to ensure contracts align with business objectives and regulatory requirements
Identify, assess, and help mitigate contractual risks, proposing practical, business-oriented solutions
Maintain accurate and organized records of contracts and related correspondence in company systems
Stay informed on legal, regulatory, and market developments impacting energy and commodities contracts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
Experience negotiating commercial contracts; prior exposure to energy or commodities trading agreements is a plus, but not required
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred
In-house experience at an energy company, trading organization, or similarly complex commercial environment preferred
