Calypso Business Analyst (Accounting)
Synechron is a global consulting firm that believes in the power of digital to transform businesses. They are seeking a seasoned Calypso Business Analyst (Accounting) to support and enhance their Capital Markets and Trading platforms, focusing on Calypso accounting configuration, product control, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Act as a Business Analyst for Calypso accounting modules , supporting end-to-end trade lifecycle from booking to accounting and reporting
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to accounting, P&L, accruals, valuations, and financial postings
Configure and support Calypso Accounting , including:
Accounting rules & events
Accounting schemas
Posting models
General Ledger (GL) mappings
Work closely with Finance and Product Control teams to ensure accurate daily P&L, balance sheet, and regulatory reporting
Support integration between Calypso and downstream systems (GL, Sub-ledger, reporting platforms)
Analyze breaks related to accounting postings, reconciliations, and financial reports; drive root-cause analysis and resolution
Partner with Technology teams during system upgrades, enhancements, and releases
Prepare functional design documents (FDDs) , test scenarios, and support UAT / PVT
Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
Participate in incident management and production support as needed
Qualification
Required
Strong hands-on experience as a Calypso Business Analyst, with deep focus on Accounting
Solid understanding of Capital Markets products, including: Fixed Income (Bonds, Repos), Derivatives (IR Swaps, FX, Options)
Strong knowledge of: Trade lifecycle and accounting flows, P&L, accruals, amortization, and valuation concepts, Product Control and Financial Reporting
Experience working with General Ledger (GL) systems and accounting integrations
Strong SQL skills for data analysis and reconciliation
Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
Experience supporting large financial institutions
Exposure to regulatory reporting and audit interactions
Knowledge of Calypso upgrades or large-scale implementations
Understanding of accounting standards (GAAP / IFRS)
