Mental Health Billing Team Lead

Help Therapy is seeking a highly organized and analytical Billing Team Lead to serve as the operational manager and central expert for their revenue cycle. In this pivotal role, you will manage a team of billing specialists, oversee complex claim resolutions, and ensure the accuracy of billing operations while also driving strategic projects.

Responsibilities

Manage daily workflows for a team of 5 billing specialists to ensure productivity and team resilience
Triage incoming tickets and assign them to the appropriate team members
Provide coaching on complex denial handling and payer communication, leading team check-ins to maintain alignment
Enforce backup processes to ensure no disruption in billing operations when staff members are out of the office
Own escalated Tier 2 denials (e.g., Medical Necessity, Credentialing) and complex appeals that cannot be resolved at a lower tier
Act as the primary owner for all claim rejections forwarded by Claims Specialists after initial fix attempts
Manage sensitive tickets escalated by the team from providers or patients, and proactively assume ownership of complex issues best suited for your specific expertise
Track and analyze the financial health of the revenue cycle, including Insurance and Patient AR Aging, Collection %, Value of Denials, DAR, and Quota vs. Actuals
Own the creation and distribution of Weekly Metrics, Month-End reports, and analytics
Conduct strategic QA checks during downtime to ensure data integrity and enforce adherence to detailed QA processes for claims submission and A/R follow-up
Support the transition from Tebra to SimplePractice, ensuring smooth provider and workflow changeovers
Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist leadership in scaling billing operations

RCM ExpertiseEHR/Practice Management SystemsAnalytical SkillsGlobal Team ExperienceSimplePracticeTebraOrganizational Skills

Required

Deep expertise in the full Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) workflow is required, including advanced denial management (Tier 2)
Proficiency in EHR/Practice Management Systems and clearinghouse workflows is required
Strong ability to interpret RCM metrics (e.g., Net Collection Rate) and identify root causes of financial risks
Exceptional organizational skills for managing high-risk caseloads and ticket triage

Preferred

Experience managing or collaborating with international teams (specifically in the Philippines)
Experience with SimplePractice and Tebra
