Systems Administrator - Server/Network Support

Southwestern Community College is seeking a Systems Administrator to assist with managing the College’s Information Systems and Servers. The role involves maintaining server and network systems, ensuring system security, and providing support for various online services.

Responsibilities

Assist with managing and maintaining the college server systems
Assist with managing and maintaining the college network systems and related infrastructure
Maintain the Virtual Server Infrastructure System
Maintain the college’s Storage Area Network (SAN)
Diagnose and solve problems in a complex technical environment
Implement, configure, administer, secure and document the college’s hardware and operating system environment
Maintain and administer regular system backups and snapshots. Assist with data restoration when necessary
Configure and maintain the network and communications settings of college servers and ensure they are communicating efficiently
Provide support for authentication through the college’s directory servers
Ensure the systems and applications are appropriately secured
Ensure all systems are appropriately documented
Provide maintenance and support for data feeds/uploads for multiple other online services including the college applications and servers
Server hardware/support to include installation, configuration, diagnosis and problem resolution
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Information Technology

Required

Associate's degree in Information Systems or related field and at least 3 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field and at least one year of experience
Relevant server system administration experience as defined by education level
Unix/Linux administration experience
Experience Windows server environment
Thorough knowledge of Virtual Server infrastructure
Familiarity of Data Protection Backup and Recovery Systems
Familiarity of server system security including familiarity with information security best practices
Working knowledge of Windows Powershell
Working knowledge of DNS and DHCP
Valid NC Driver's license
Light lifting of server equipment (50lbs)
