Responsibilities
Standard Cost System Management: Set material standards, calculate labor/overhead rates, and handle reporting for the costing system
Variance Analysis: Deep dive into production variances (materials, labor, overhead), find causes (root cause analysis), and work with operations to fix them
Data Mining & Reporting: Daily data analysis to spot trends, identify risks/opportunities, and provide metrics to management for cost reduction and inventory improvement
Inventory Control: Reconcile perpetual inventory to the General Ledger (GL) and manage cycle/physical counts
Financial Planning & Analysis: Analyze product gross margins, assist with annual budgets, and provide costing support for business decisions
Process Improvement: Identify, champion, and track productivity initiatives; drive system/control improvements within finance
Compliance & Support: Ensure US GAAP compliance, support month-end close, and assist external auditors with costing queries
Qualification
Required
Deep understanding of standard costing, variances (price/quantity), and inventory valuation
Ability to mine data, find trends, and translate financial information into operational insights
Partnering with Operations, Production, and Finance teams
Familiarity with ERP systems, internal controls, and driving system improvements
Maintaining records per Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
