Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

Total Wine & More is the country's largest independent retailer of fine wine, beer, and spirits, and they are seeking a Senior Analyst for Financial Planning & Analysis to join their Finance team in Bethesda, MD. This role supports financial planning, reporting, and analysis, delivering accurate insights that aid in strategic and operational decision-making.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver financial reports and expense variance analysis. Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
Prepare weekly and monthly PowerPoint presentations summarizing financial performance for senior leadership
Build and maintain financial models to support planning, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis. Translate high-level direction into structured models and analytical outputs that support decision-making
Perform data validation, reconciliations, and quality checks to ensure the integrity of financial inputs and outputs across reporting and modeling activities
Leverage advanced Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools to automate recurring reports, improve model scalability, and reduce manual effort. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across FP&A workflows

Required

Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting, or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
1-4 years experience in a related field preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. complex formulas, pivot tables, data tables, Power Query)
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify drivers and trends
Strong aptitude for process improvement, including identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort and standardize recurring outputs
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and support multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to build structured financial models to support planning, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis
