This entry-level role involves supporting subsurface utility investigations through technical learning and fieldwork, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to gather utility data and contribute to accurate mapping and documentation.

Responsibilities
Support daily field operations by preparing, organizing, and maintaining SUE equipment while following all safety standards
Work alongside experienced technicians to learn and perform underground utility locating using tools such as GPR, electromagnetic locating devices, and vacuum excavation
Assist with utility data collection, basic field sketches, and quality checks to ensure accurate documentation for project teams
Travel to local project sites as needed and operate company vehicles in accordance with company policies
Qualification
Required
High school diploma required
No experience required
Demonstrated willingness to learn about the SUE industry and ability to work in a team environment
Valid driver's license required
Strong oral and written communication with a professional demeanor when interacting with staff and the public
Ability to meet client-driven schedules, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks such as walking uneven terrain and occasional lifting
Professional demeanor when interacting with staff and the public
Preferred
Associate's or Bachelor's in Civil or Construction Engineering or a related discipline
Prior internships or applicable coursework
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience using electromagnetic pipe and cable locating equipment for designation of subsurface utilities
Experience with DOT, municipal, and/or public utility projects
SUE experience on South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and other transportation projects
Working knowledge of Ground Penetrating Radar and vacuum excavation
Surveying and/or drafting experience
Experience with engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
