Lumber Grader/Stacker

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc. is seeking a Stacker Operator responsible for operating the stacker machine and ensuring boards are stacked uniformly. The role involves maintaining equipment, inspecting wood products, and recommending process improvements to enhance quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

Observes all safety requirements, including Personal Protective Equipment
Daily performance of preventative maintenance on stacker equipment and identifying potential mechanical issues, keeping equipment in condition to effectively meet goals
Inspects wood products during machining and upon completion
Maintains equipment and work area cleanly and safely
Recommends changes to improve processes and procedures, improving quality and productivity
Collects production data as required and inspects own work
Identify opportunities for process, quality, and safety improvements
Support quality expectations, and demonstrate an understanding of the impacts of quality on productivity
Demonstrate understanding of stacker operations, including proper production levels, safety, and basic care
Communicate effectively with employees at various organizational levels, including production, maintenance, supervisory and corporate staff, to report any issues that impact safety, quality, or production
Ensure proper disposal of waste materials on completion of job operations
Sort and arrange lumber, timbers, and finished goods according to sizes and grades to allow for easy identification
