Administrator I-Systems
Westlake is a company that provides Windows administrative and support services to its corporate entities. The Windows Administrator I will assist with hardware and software installation, provide technical support, and help implement system infrastructure for the enterprise computer system.

Responsibilities
Receives instruction, direction, guidance from others
Performs routine assignments at entry level
Follows structured work assignments
Uses existing procedures to solve routine problems
Coordinate resolution of issues when alerted by on-call emergency phone during assigned rotation period
Work with senior team members to apply security patches and upgrades to all Windows OS and application software
With proper oversight, maintain standard Windows services like Print, file, DNS, DHCP
Assists team members, scan server logs for abnormal operations and security activities
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure consistent server management
Store copies of all server software and upgrades for future use on the departmental network share
With direction from senior team members, ensure all daily backup jobs complete as scheduled. Coordinate with service companies for maintaining off-site storage and weekly pickup/return of backup tapes
Assist senior team members allocate file space on network server(s) for user application software, dynamically expanding this space as usage warrants
Ensure anti-virus software is operating properly on all servers
Recognize and triage third level support issues like troubleshooting user problems with applications, e.g., slow processing, apparent malfunctions, explanation of vendor technical documents
Work with senior team members to install new operating systems for Windows servers
Work with senior team members to replace software for major applications
Assist senior team members, assess latest server technology, backup devices, etc. and recommends choices as technology evolves
Work with senior team members evaluate packaged software for end users based on user requirement and vendor specifications
Work with senior team members to determine configuration requirements, e.g., Server, PC, Bandwidth, etc
Work with senior team members setup evaluation copy of software for testing by users and IT
Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned
Qualification
Required
Good written and oral communication skills
Good technical documentation skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to present ideas in non-technical user-friendly language
Ability to conduct research into IT operational issues, standards and products as required
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Able to work weekend and evening hours for maintenance and emergency work
Good understanding of IT operations, theories, principles, and practices
Preferred
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science is preferred. It may be a substitute for experience
Certifications in Microsoft Windows Enterprise Products including Exchange, Sharepoint administration, or Web Services are not required. It may be substituted for experience
