Senior Analyst, Engagement, Churn & Retention

This role focuses on defining metrics, analyzing engagement and churn, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop strategies that maximize subscriber lifetime value.

Responsibilities
Define engagement and retention priorities: Identify the most impactful opportunities to increase engagement, reduce churn, and improve long-term retention across both partner-specific subscriptions and Roku Pay subscribers
Build and own reporting: Develop a unified framework to monitor subscriber health - including engagement, churn, retention, reactivation, and lifetime value
Churn diagnostics: Diagnose churn drivers across content, product experience, pricing, and user segments, and translate findings into clear business actions
Engagement-driven insights: Analyze how user behaviors (viewing, product usage, feature adoption) drive churn or retention outcomes
Experiment and optimize: Partner with Product and Core Analytics to design, analyze, and interpret A/B tests focused on reducing churn and increasing engagement
Model subscriber economics: Build scalable processes that connect engagement and churn to lifetime value and subscription health
Cross-functional leadership: Collaborate with Product, Recommendations, Marketing, Finance, Partner Growth, and Subscriptions to align churn and retention strategies with Roku’s strategic goals
Influence through storytelling: Deliver compelling dashboards, presentations, and narratives that connect engagement, churn, and retention to subscriber and revenue impact
Operational excellence: Bridge technical expertise (Core Analytics, Data Engineering) with business stakeholders to ensure churn and retention data is actionable and trusted
Champion a churn-aware culture: Promote engagement and churn insights as a foundation for subscription success across Roku
Qualification
Required
8-10+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years working in a subscription-driven business
Proven experience developing and executing churn reduction and retention strategies in complex, cross-functional environments
Advanced analytical skills, including SQL expertise and comfort working with large, complex datasets
Strong Tableau skills, with the ability to build interactive dashboards that track churn, engagement, and retention
Strong modeling ability in Excel
Exceptional communication and data storytelling skills; able to translate churn and engagement insights into executive-ready narratives and presentations
Highly collaborative, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams around churn, engagement, and retention goals
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and prioritizing the highest-impact work in a fast-paced environment
Passionate about user experience, engagement, and creating long-term value for both subscribers and the business
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business-related field (Economics, Business, Marketing, Analytics)
Preferred
