Manufacturing/Electrical Engineer
Swoon is an electronics manufacturing client seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on electrical engineering. The role involves supporting manufacturing improvements, collaborating with various teams, and driving process enhancements in the automotive sector.
Responsibilities
Evaluate, recommend, and implement new production equipment and manufacturing line designs
Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing methods and process sequences for automotive cable assemblies
Partner with Engineering team members (Tool Design, Machining, and Engineering Technicians) to provide manufacturability input during New Product Introduction (NPI)
Perform product validations, engineering trials, and laboratory testing to support internal and customer R&D efforts
Design and build proof-of-concept assemblies, prototypes, and feasibility models
Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Machine Vision Systems, and End-of-Line functional testers, including test programs and procedures
Support Quality and Process Engineering teams in troubleshooting and resolving production issues
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles, including scrap reduction and efficiency improvements
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related technical field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
5+ years of hands-on experience driving manufacturing process improvements
Proficiency with basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters)
Working knowledge of electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
Experience with hand soldering of electronic components and/or printed circuit boards
Strong ability to analyze complex mechanical and electrical systems and identify root causes
Proven experience working effectively within cross-functional teams
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma preferred
Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) component manufacturing is a plus
Green Belt Six Sigma certification preferred
Strong analytical mindset with creative, hands-on troubleshooting capabilities
Exceptional manual dexterity and coordination when working with small electronic components and tight tolerances (±.001”)
Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience documenting and systematizing manufacturing process flows for improved efficiency
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts across all levels of the organization
Proficient with computers and comfortable working in technical systems and environments
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
English fluency required (spoken and written)
Ability to distinguish colors as verified by the Ishihara Color Vision Test
