QA Engineer I

Black Diamond Equipment Ltd is focused on ensuring the quality of their climbing, skiing, and mountain products. The Production Quality Engineer I will assist in testing and inspection processes, coordinate with inspection resources, and conduct statistical analysis to ensure product integrity.

Responsibilities

Assists in the creation of testing and Inspection models for analysis of new product development and current production raw materials, materials in process, and finished products
Coordinates with inspection resources to ensure necessary inspection and testing of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products for new current production are completed and reviewed in a timely manner
During the design and development of new product, conducts statistical and graphical analysis of test data and determines product and component strength ratings while taking into consideration typical use, misuse and abuse scenarios
Uses and maintains software and hardware necessary to complete inspection and testing required by production quality control plans
Assists in the fabrication and development of test and inspection fixtures for production testing and inspection
Collect and record user feedback and provide information to design team in organized way
Maintains quality records systems for test, design, and product rating documents
Helps to drive investigations, as necessary, as it pertains to current product proposed design changes, material qualifications or manufacturing deviations

Required

Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials Science or similar)
Zero to three years engineering experience; Internships or major class work focused on fundamentals of engineering, testing materials & statistical analysis
General knowledge of strength of materials, statistics, data acquisition systems, and failure analysis
General database, word processing, 3D modeling, controls software, and spreadsheet knowledge
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures
Ability to collect and present data, identify trends, and make written & verbal reports on conclusions
Experience communicating and collaborating with offsite and remote team members
Must have a working user's knowledge of climbing, backcountry skiing/riding, and/or trail running and hiking as well as the equipment needed and commonly used for each

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in one of above with coursework in modern manufacturing methods and controls
2 years post-graduate experience in materials testing, statistical analysis, design and theory of mechanical systems, data acquisition systems, or measurement methods
Experience with working within an ISO 9001 certified quality management system
Proficiency assembling and using test fixtures
Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain both mechanical and electronics based testing equipment
Ability to design test fixtures and relevant test procedures
possess demonstrated ability to field test gear and provide immediate feedback
