Howmet Aerospace is a global leader in engineered solutions for the aerospace, automotive, defense, and commercial transportation industries. They are seeking an Intern – Artificial Intelligence to join their Corporate Information Technology team in Pittsburgh, PA, where the intern will develop AI models, conduct data analysis, and collaborate with teams on impactful projects during a 12-week program.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with other developers/data scientists to develop, test, and deploy AI models
Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training tasks
Perform exploratory data analysis of business and manufacturing process data to uncover insights and relationships
Learn how to assess technology to select the best AI solution for each use case
Conduct research on recent advancements in AI/ML and provide insights to the team and leadership
Write and maintain clear documentation of models, experiments, and code
Collaborate with supervisors, business units, and resource unit leaders
IT related projects that drive business value for Howmet
Participate in the development, implementation and deployment of new systems, new information technologies, and information solutions
Support and enhance existing systems and information technologies
Learn the location & company’s standards, procedures, and technologies
Consult and interact with Howmet’s global business customers and company user groups to gather requirements and to solicit feedback on the success of delivered products
Analysis, design, system development, and life-cycle methodologies
Translate customer business requirements into technical solutions identifying key deliverables
Hands On work with Python, OCI, and Azure
Follow departmental processes procedures and produced required documentation
Work independently, directly with customers, as well as work group
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or other related IT field with an expected graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
A willingness to learn and take initiative to understand the business
Involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred
Previous internship in Information Technology with a global employer
A willingness to take initiative to understand the business
Aptitude for problem solving
Project experience with security tools or procedures
Previous reporting writing experience
Ability to manage projects and working within team in a fast-paced environment
Leadership and strong decision-making skills
Benefits
A relocation stipend in the amount of $3,000 will be provided to students located 50+ miles from the physical location of the internship.
