Coastal Restoration Program Assistant

They are seeking a Coastal Restoration Program Assistant to assist with scientific field sampling and data processing, ensuring projects are completed efficiently during a six-month seasonal position.

Responsibilities

Assist the Coastal Restoration Team with scientific field sampling and data processing
Conduct field sampling surveys including video fish detection, juvenile fish beach seines, artificial reef monitoring, and water quality monitoring
Perform data processing, including conducting and interpreting statistical analyses, data visualization, report writing, and literature review

Required

High school diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience
Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. Driver's License, First Aid, CPR)

Preferred

Recent graduate of Biology, Conservation, Environmental Studies, Marine Science, Ichthyology, or related field, or equivalent
Coursework or experience with biostatistics, data analysis, and data visualization
Coursework or experience with programming languages like R or Python
Coursework or experience with GIS
Knowledge of aquatic ecosystems, fish assemblages and/or estuarine biology
Boating experience
Experience with scientific research and data entry
Experience working in a lab setting and with a microscope
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
Proven ability to deal with the general public in a friendly, outgoing, and professional manner
