Part Time Mortgage Underwriter
Cardinal Credit Union is seeking a part-time Mortgage Underwriter to join their mortgage department. The underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and verifying loan documents to determine applicants' ability to repay mortgage loans while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and government regulations.

Responsibilities
Our Mortgage Underwriter reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet Credit Union and government standards
Approves or rejects loan application or requests additional information
Evaluates acceptability of loan to corporation that buy real estate loans on secondary mortgage markets (where existing mortgages are bought and sold by investors)
Our Mortgage Underwriter assembles documents in loan file, including acceptance or denial and returns file to originating mortgage loan department
Records loan rejection, specifying investor and Credit Union guidelines and basis for declining application
Qualification
Required
Strong competency with FNMA underwriting guidelines
Ability to evaluate and verify loan documents
Experience reviewing the 1003 and 1008 forms
Knowledge of trust documentation, title reports, homeowner and condo master policies, and insurance documentation
Ability to ensure loan terms and property specifications comply with credit union policies and applicable government regulations
Ability to approve or reject loan applications or request additional information
Experience evaluating acceptability of loans to corporations that buy real estate loans on secondary mortgage markets
Ability to assemble documents in loan file, including acceptance or denial
Ability to record loan rejection, specifying investor and Credit Union guidelines and basis for declining application
