Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain distributed systems that form the backbone of the data platform
Create infrastructure and automation that supports high volume data ingestion, processing, and storage
Provision and manage cloud resources using infrastructure as code, ensuring systems are repeatable, secure, and observable
Design and operate distributed data systems that leverage both transactional and analytical data stores
Help evolve pipelines for streaming and batch processing, supporting use cases that range from real time analytics to long running data transformations
Collaborate with other engineers to improve tooling, standards, and operational practices, contributing to a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience
Strong foundation in building and operating distributed systems
Highly proficient in at least one modern programming language
Comfortable working in Linux based environments
Hands on experience provisioning cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform or similar infrastructure as code frameworks
Designed and operated systems in cloud computing environments
Understanding of the tradeoffs involved in scaling systems reliably
Experienced with both OLTP and OLAP databases
Worked with high throughput data processing and storage systems
Clear communication in writing and conversation
Ability to work well within a team
Enjoy tackling difficult problems that require persistence and creativity
Thrive in fast growing environments
Continuously learning and adapting as systems and requirements evolve
Take pride in seeing complex problems through from initial design to stable production operation
