Manufacturing Plant Engineer

Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and efficient work environment, maintain and improve processes, and improve equipment applications
Help produce quality products on time by assisting the Process Engineer in matters of process adherence
Work directly with and oversee the maintenance team to establish and maintain adequate best practices for the business
Responsible for the implementation of CI projects and the evaluation of emerging technologies to improve the manufacturing process
Support all company initiatives including the transfer of products or equipment and the design of new processes, or equipment
Offer engineering support to Engineering and direct oversight of the maintenance department
Drive, manage, and report on continuous improvement projects
Develop and test mechanical components, equipment, and machinery
Project management including but not limited to - fabrication, operation, installation, and repair of mechanical products with vendors
Ordering and keeping track of parts and materials needed to maintain and repair equipment
Diagnose and drive material loss’ corrective actions in manufacturing process
Define maintenance programs to enhance KPI’s and reduce production down time; develop rolling maintenance shut down plan and utilize CMMS program
Work alongside maintenance supervisor and maintenance team to ensure the day-to-day decisions within and/or processes are necessary categorizing time efficiency and job importance
Apply Lean / Six Sigma principles to drive manufacturing process improvements
Ensure production efficiency and achievement goals are exceeded
Resolve and execute manufacturing process solutions
Read system layouts, draw, and prepare schematics with Auto Cad or other Company software systems
Create design of experiments for manufacturing process changes
Qualification
Required
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited college or university
Good working knowledge of lean concepts
Ability to use CAD software to create and update 3D models for products, fixtures, and process equipment (Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred but not required)
Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple responsibilities
Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format
Must be familiar with micrometers, verniers and other machine shop measuring tools
Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers, and superiors in all departments of the Company
Must be able to communicate well with customers and external contacts of the Company
Must be able to manage time effectively, have good organizational, and planning skills
Must have good interpersonal skills for working in a team environment
Strive to complete all projects and tasks safely, accurately and in a timely manner
Must adhere to all Company policies and follow principles of 6s
This position requires use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Individual must be a Citizen of the United States, or Permanent resident alien of the United States, or Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (22 CFR §120.15.)
Use of Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with obtaining and using information from ERP systems
Use of web-based data entry systems
Creation of 3D models and detail drawings using CAD systems (Autodesk Inventor experience preferred)
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.)
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
Ability to maximize use of available resources to solve problems and implement improvement ideas
Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for a considerable portion of an 8-hour workday
Must be capable of walking throughout the facility and property to check on employees and equipment
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to access and inspect equipment
Must be able to crawl under or on top of equipment according to company safety guidelines
Must be able to physically wear personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, and safety boots
Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be capable of international travel (minimal travel required)
Preferred
Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred but not required
