Coordinator, Sports Communications
NBCUniversal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies, and they are seeking a Sports Communications Coordinator to support communications efforts for the FIFA World Cup 2026. This role will involve executing press initiatives, developing media relationships, and amplifying Telemundo Deportes' position as a leading destination for Hispanic sports fans.

Responsibilities
Support the planning and execution of comprehensive PR campaigns leading up to the FIFA World Cup 2026, from major milestones to on-site tournament coverage
Develop and maintain media lists across sports, entertainment, and multicultural press
Draft and update press materials, including press releases, media alerts, tune-ins, talent bios, and story pitches
Assist in managing the Telemundo Deportes PR social media channels (particularly X/Twitter), developing ongoing content and engagement strategies
Identify editorial and partnership opportunities to highlight Telemundo Deportes World Cup programming and broader sports portfolio, including the Olympic Games
Collaborate with production, marketing, and creative teams to craft 360° PR plans around key campaigns and network initiatives
Maintain a detailed communications calendar and publicity drumbeat tracking milestones, announcements, and activations
Monitor media coverage and provide daily and event-based reports to the broader communications team
Participate in key planning and production meetings to stay informed on programming and storylines that support PR efforts
Cultivate strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to effectively support Telemundo Deportes publicity goals
Qualification
Required
Deep knowledge and passion for sports, especially soccer and global sporting events
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team
Familiarity with social media platforms and digital storytelling
Proficient in Photoshop or similar design tools
Preferred
Strong writing, editing, and pitching skills — proficiency in both English and Spanish preferred
Prior experience in publicity, media relations, or sports communications is a plus
