Transportation Engineer 3 – District 8 Capital Programs Administration - Engineering Project Manager -PN20062934
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) oversees building and maintaining Ohio's transportation system and is seeking a Transportation Engineer 3. This role involves managing design consultants through the project development process, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and overseeing various construction activities.

Responsibilities
Manage design consultants through the Project Development Process
Develop detailed plans for roadways, culverts, bridges, and other types of projects
Distribute plans to district staff specialists for review and work with design consultants to incorporate comments into the plans
Answer questions during construction once a low bidder has been awarded
Acts as staff specialist in construction and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities
Assess feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, evaluation tests, products or equipment
Supervise staff engaged in construction activities and provide developmental opportunities
Assist in development of section policy, budget preparation, and long-range planning
Direct work activities such as bridge construction or repair, pipe installations, paving operation, and traffic control
Train employees for inspection and testing procedures and proper paper documentation for construction activities
Operate state vehicle to travel to and inspect project sites and provide technical assistance and guidance to inspectors
Sign plans or engineering documents as registered professional engineer and interpret complex plans to ensure compliance
Assist Contractor Compliance Officers in ensuring Commercially Useful Function requirements are met
Investigate complaints, document findings, and assist with resolution
Direct documentation of pay quantities, project records keeping, initiation of change orders, and approval of materials incorporated in work
Qualification
Required
Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
12 mos. exp. as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers
12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions)
If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license
