Peak Performers is seeking an attorney to gain hands-on experience in administrative law and public utility regulation while representing agency staff in contested cases. The role offers the opportunity to develop litigation, regulatory, and policy skills within a collaborative public-sector environment.

Responsibilities
Represent agency staff in contested administrative cases, advocating staff positions in hearings and proceedings under supervision
Conduct legal research and analysis related to electric, telecommunications, and water and sewer utility regulation
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents for administrative and regulatory proceedings
Coordinate with and support technical and subject-matter experts in developing testimony and recommendations
Assist with hearings, including preparation of witnesses, cross-examination, and oral argument
Support rule-making activities and contribute to legal sections of reports submitted to the Commission and Legislature
Participate in settlement discussions, training initiatives, and responses to public legal or procedural inquiries, as assigned
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; active Texas Bar license or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe
Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts
Experience or interest in administrative law, public utility regulation, or public service litigation
Ability to work effectively under supervision while demonstrating initiative and sound judgment
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
Professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a small legal team and a larger attorney group
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and legal research tools
