Responsibilities
Receives, reviews, indexes, and uploads medical documentation received from VA providers and Non-VA providers incorporates the document into the correct veteran's record using the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)
Utilizes the appropriate computer application (VistA, Fee Basis Claims System Doc Manager, and National VA contractor portal) to retrieve and index/upload medical documentation
Reviews medical documents from Non-VA facilities, CBOCs, and VA
Attaches the indexed/uploaded documents to a progress note viewable in CPRS
Ensures all necessary health/administration information is integrated into VistA through VistA Imaging software, utilizing PC/VistA application bridges
Ensures results for stat or emergent requests are indexed/uploaded within established timeframes
Ensures appropriate disposition of hard copy documents once indexing/uploading of documents has been verified utilizing appropriate shred boxes or Records Management directives
Performs any related administrative duties not specifically described herein or any other duties as assigned related to Health Information Management Section or the mission of the service
Ensures actions and interactions are within the guidelines of the Center's Employee Code of Conduct policy

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of general experience. This experience must be progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the File Clerk position
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years above high school
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school
A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education
Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment
