Casework Supervisor, Asylum Seeker Program
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to humanitarian crises and is seeking a Casework Supervisor for their Asylum Seeker Program in New York. Responsibilities
Guide the implementation of the Assistance for Migrants Program
Manage client enrollment and eligibility screening in collaboration with caseworkers and program support staff; lead group program orientations for new clients as needed
Assign cases to caseworkers; ensure required services are completed in a timely manner including needs assessment, service plan, legal orientation, and community referrals. Additional services and referrals may include legal services, financial assistance, school enrollment, shelter navigation, access to public benefits, mental health and trafficking screenings, among other supportive services aligning from client goals
Collaborate with other departments and partners to facilitate timely internal and external referrals, including close coordination with Legal and Economic Empowerment Departments, among other internal IRC in NY departments
Monitor timely case closure; ensure programming is responsive to client feedback through administration and review of client satisfaction surveys
Identify and maintain relationships with local government and community-based organizations to ensure current understanding of landscape and resources for asylum seekers in NYC and promote client access to critical benefits and services
Develop and maintain vendor relationships that create budgetary savings and improve efficiency, in collaboration with community engagement and management teams
Ensure that case file documentation is maintained in compliance with contract requirements
Guide the timely implementation of program updates as needed
Draft program reports, make recommendations, edits, and corrections as needed
Assist with the preparation for all monitoring visits including IRC, state, and federal agencies
Monitor program execution to ensure compliance with funder and IRC requirements; communicate program needs to management team
Cultivate a respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment for team members and clients
Recruit, train, and manage team in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards
Provide daily oversight of active caseload, maintaining close communication with caseworkers and team regarding challenging cases
Carry out timely, professional interventions to ensure responsive, appropriate, and client-centered service delivery
Inform team-building efforts and development of trainings to build staff capacity, in collaboration with management team
Represent IRC in public, professional, and governmental forums as needed

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, preferably in social work or related field
Minimum two to three years of experience implementing domestic asylum seeker, refugee resettlement or similar programs
Two to three years of experience supervising, supporting, and training staff strongly preferred
Experience in program management and responsibility for budget management preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; comfort learning new software applications
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English; proficiency in a language spoken by client populations a plus (Spanish, French, Russian)
Strong understanding of benefits and services landscape in NYC; ability to understand and apply complex eligibility requirements
Preferred
Master's degree preferred, preferably in social work or related field
Two to three years of experience supervising, supporting, and training staff strongly preferred
Experience in program management and responsibility for budget management preferred
