Supervising Attorney, Immigration
Urban Justice Center - Domestic Violence Project is seeking a full-time Supervising Attorney specializing in Immigration Law to join their dedicated team. The role involves supervising legal staff, providing legal representation on immigration matters, and leading community outreach and training efforts.

Responsibilities
Supervise a team of full-time immigration attorneys, fellows, interns, and pro bono attorneys
Organize internal trainings and facilitate external training opportunities for staff
Zealously represent survivors in their immigration matters
Collaborate with our entire DVP program to assist clients and increase effectiveness of programming
Collaborate with DVP’s Management’s team to participate in the development of the legal department’s vision and priorities and then working to execute those plans
Build and strengthen organizational relationships and communications with other organizations
Conduct outreach, education, and know-your-rights events throughout NYC and remotely
Manage the professional development and mentoring of staff, including identifying opportunities to support the growth and development of their legal skills
Maintain records, statistics and funding requirements as needed
All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Legal of Services of survivors of intimate partner violence
Qualification
Required
Admission to a state bar is mandatory
3-10 years of immigration experience. Must have previous experience training, supervising, or mentoring attorneys or legal interns
Knowledge and understanding of intimate partner violence and trauma
Deep experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and lifestyles
Ability to work with clients in a sensitive and trauma-informed manner
Proven project and time management skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects at once and manage competing priorities. Must have strong organizational and administrative skills
Must be comfortable providing and receiving feedback and critique in a constructive manner
Able to problem solve and think creatively to find solutions
Able to respond to the legal needs of immigrant survivors on an emergency and/or immediate basis
Exceptional interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills and the ability to apply these skills in diverse situations
Aptitude for intense and thorough advocacy
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work as a team member
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Interest and proclivity in working within a multi-disciplinary framework
Must be able to travel between boroughs
Able to work evenings if necessary
