Camp Superintendent - Children's Fresh Air Home
Children’s Fresh Air Home is a nonprofit summer camp at the Jersey Shore that provides a free, faith-based, life-changing experience for children ages 7–13. They are seeking a Camp Superintendent to lead summer operations, overseeing on-site activities, staff, and volunteers while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities
Hiring and supervision of employees with board/camp director assistance and approval
Ordering, tracking and maintaining CFAH materials and supplies needed for operations
Developing a camp curriculum in coordination with Executive Director and Board , with age and developmentally appropriate leisure and recreational activities that embody the Five pillars as noted below
Preparing weekly activity schedules for counselors and campers that align with and foster the 5 pillars of the CFAH, including Art and Creative Expression, Spirituality and Inner Growth, Music and Rhythm, Marine, Beach and Coastal Science, and Physical Fitness and Play
Managing all child records, including preparing weekly medical charts and parent releases through Campsite record systems
Organizing and conducting a two-day counselor training/orientation prior to the start of the summer season, including coordinating with local EMS and partners for CPR certification
Conducting weekly camper orientation with new campers that reviews rules, emergency procedures, and behavior expectations
Management and closure of all incident reports/logs
Arranging for the transportation of campers to and from pick-up sites and any scheduled activities
Managing the daily business affairs of CFAH (booking tickets to waterpark, organizing ice cream socials, boardwalk rides, etc.)
Cultivating relationships with local businesses, organizations, and partners for donations and volunteers
Opening and Closing the Home at the beginning and end of each season according to guidelines/policies/procedures
Working with the Camp Director\Board to manage budget for house materials and supplies, activities, etc
Working with the cook to set up menus, meals, and ensure food is ordered in advance
Conduct weekly staff meeting and training
Learn and ensure CFAH complies with all NJ DOH licensing and health regulations
Carry out the policies and directives of the CFAH board on a daily basis
Communicating to Board Leadership (and board and licensing body when necessary) all pertinent information regarding concerns, incidents, staffing concerns, etc. in a timely manner
Implementing and enforcing the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual
Communicating and responding to inquiries from campers and their parents or guardians
Evaluating and coaching on-site staff and volunteers
Ensuring the safe operation of the Children’s Fresh Air Home
Performing other duties as assigned by Camp Director/CFAH Board
Qualification
Required
Experience leading youth, camp, or community programs
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
CPR/First Aid certified (or ability to obtain before start)
Must be 25+
Able to work outdoors
Available full-time June–August 2026 (part-time prep work begins February/March)
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds (supplies, equipment, luggage)
Must be able to walk long distances across uneven terrain and campgrounds
Must be able to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, in outdoor environments
Must be able to tolerate heat, humidity, insects, and inclement weather
Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, child abuse clearance, and sex offender registry
Must be eligible to work in the United States and maintain compliance with all state and federal camp licensing regulations
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; access to a personal vehicle, and ability to operate an 8-10 passenger van with kids if needed
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to camp operations
Ability to walk long distances and work in outdoor environments that may include heat, humidity, insects, and inclement weather
Flexibility to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and remain on-site overnight during camp sessions
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a camp, school, or youth program setting
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and crisis management skills with the ability to enforce safety and supervision standards
Commitment to modeling positive behavior and upholding camp values while working effectively with diverse staff, campers, and families
Preferred
Lifeguard/Water Safety certification
Food safety certification
