Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive insurance and reinsurance accounting activities, including premiums, losses, deposits, collateral, recoveries, and cash allocations
Prepare, validate, and distribute treaty reinsurance bordereaux in an accurate and timely manner
Prepare treaty settlements and manage reinsurance collections
Validate facultative premiums and claims; prepare and process settlements and collections
Apply cash to ceded reinsurance accounts and research open or unidentified cash items
Research, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies; respond to broker and internal stakeholder inquiries
Perform monthly reconciliations of system-generated ceded balances to general ledger source reports
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and reporting processes
Prepare and support regulatory and financial reporting requirements
Assist with internal audits and external GAAP audits by providing documentation, analyses, and explanations as needed
Review aging of outstanding reinsurance recoverables and proactively resolve issues delaying collection
Participate in special projects, including data analysis, reconciliations, external reporting initiatives, and process improvement efforts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA designation strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience in reinsurance and insurance accounting
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in General Ledger accounting and financial statement preparation
Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reconciliations
Experience with treaty preparation, cash application, and reconciliation processes
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills for collaborating with brokers, auditors, and internal stakeholders
